Completing & Submitting Oxygen Claims

Those Contractors who are contracted to supply Oxygen Therapy Service are reminded of the following:

  • A claim form, PO1, detailing names and addresses of all patients supplied with Oxygen Therapy equipment should be submitted to the Agency each month irrespective of whether gas has been supplied in that month
  • A claim should be made each month for the number of sets and stands owned irrespective of whether they are in the shop or with patients
  • Any increase in the number of sets or stands should be detailed on the PO/1 claim form

Other Size Cylinders

The Agency will pay for other size cylinders of Oxygen gas on prescription. However, as these sizes of cylinders are not included in the Northern Ireland Drug Tariff, no delivery allowance is payable and such cylinders will attract a "banded" dispensing fee. The Agency will pay rental charges imposed by BOC or Medigas for such cylinders.

The process is as follows:

  • Prescription forms ordering Oxygen PD or other gas cylinders should be submitted as normal with other prescription forms ordering oxygen gas or equipment and the total number of rental claims declared against section ‘F’ on the HS30 form submitted with your bundle
  • Oxygen PD and other gas cylinders should be coded using the relevant code, if available. If there is no code the forms should be marked with the diamond symbol and endorsed with the cost
  • Invoices for rental cost should no longer be submitted. Instead, the total number of claims for PD and other cylinder rentals should be entered on section 2 of the PO1 Oxygen Claim form
  • Payment for claims will be included in your pharmaceutical payment. It will be included under the heading Extemporaneous Fees

Should you have any queries or require further guidance regarding the above, please do not hesitate to contact Pharmaceutical Services on the following telephone number: 028 9053 5613.
