The Agency's Finances

The Agency is a non-profit making organisation and its financial performance is largely measured by its ability to break even year on year.

The Agency’s main sources of income are:

1. Cash advances from the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety largely to cover research and development grants, payments to student nurses via the student bursary scheme and payments for undergraduate medical and dental education.

2. Management Fees from HPSS bodies to cover services provided centrally on their behalf.

3. Sale of goods from stores managed by the Regional Supplies Service

The CSA also administers the Clinical Negligence Central Fund on behalf of the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety and is responsible for reimbursing Health and Social Services Boards and Trusts for expenditure incurred in defending legal cases in respect of Clinical Negligence.

Details of the income and expenditure for any given year are disclosed in the Agency’s Annual Accounts
